ADVANCED PROGRAM
PERIOD 1
Course Leader : David Renard
The Advanced Program organised by the mathematics department offers students tuition in a few themes linked to contemporary mathematics research, most of which have applications in one or more neighbouring disciplines (mechanics, physics, chemistry, I.T. and cryptography). They are followed by a research internment.
The program is aimed at a wide variety of needs: students who, prior to following an engineering or research path in other disciplines, are seeking to acquire mathematical knowledge that will be difficult for them to acquire later; student who, for cultural reasons, are looking to have contact with living mathematics before moving into other activities; and, of course, students who are looking for research careers in mathematics.
The various modules are taught in coordination with other departments: applied mathematics, physics and I.T.
It is perfectly possible to choose one module from the Advanced Program in mathematics and the other from a different discipline.
